2015 AMC 10/12 A

For avid student mathematicians across the country, the American Mathematics Competition (AMC) examinations are some of the most highly anticipated events of the year. Two of the most widely taken exams, the AMC 10/12 A and the AMC 10/12 B, are given in February, and this year, on Tuesday, February 3rd, OCMC hosted the A-exam at the Irvine Chinese School. The contest manager, Mrs. Walker, and OCMC AMC Coordinator, Jaewoo Park, are glad to announce that the event was very successful!

One hundred and seventy middle and high school students were in attendance to take the 25-question, 75-minute, multiple-choice examination, which tests secondary school mathematics concepts. The exam provides a great opportunity for the students to challenge themselves academically, testing the knowledge and problem solving skills they have developed throughout their childhoods.

Students who pass the AMC 10 are invited to take the American Invitational Mathematics Examination (AIME) with the prospect of qualifying to become USA Junior Mathematics Olympians (and take the USAJMO exam), and students who pass the AMC 12 are invited to take to same exam to become USA Mathematics Olympians (and take the USAMO exam). For students who were not able to take the A-exam, OCMC is also hosting the B-exam on February 25th.

Thank you to all of you who were involved in the event for helping it to run smoothly and successfully!
