Math for Service Open House

Math for Service is having an open house and awards ceremony on Sunday, May 15 at Sage Hill School to showcase its numerous student-run organizations, including Orange County Math Circle (OCMC), OC Science, OC Arts, OC Coder, OC Engineering, and OC Scholar. Each will be hosting information sessions about their respective nonprofits. All of these organizations are student-run nonprofits with a common mission of promoting education and involvement in their respective fields in Orange County and the surrounding areas. At the beginning of the event from 1:30 - 2:00 and at the end of the event from 4:00 - 5:00, students in grades 8 through 12 will walk around the organization booths, learn about and sign up for the ones they are interested in. From 2:00 - 4:00, there will be a presentation by keynote speaker, Dr. James Li and a college panel discussing the value of service in college admissions, as well as a PVSA awards ceremony for Math For Service volunteers and a senior sendoff. The future of Math for Service is bright as each organization will present its new ideas and plans for the coming academic year. Math for Service will continue to serve the community as it has since 2007 by fulfilling its mission to incubate, mentor, and sustain student-run community service projects which reach a national audience and have global impact potential. Math for Service encourages any students in grades 8 to 12 in the fall interested in volunteering or any students and parents interested in participating to attend on May 15.
