Math Club Newsletter Recap

Volunteers enthusiastically teaching carefully thought lesson plans on Algebra.  Participants smiling after correctly answering a question.   The start of a new partnership with a nationally recognized organization.

September and October mark the start of a historic 10th year of OCMC’s math classes.  The impacts we have made through last month’s kickoff meetings have been built by a generation of dedicated volunteers and more importantly, a generation of curious young minds that participate in our classes.

It’s amazing to see how we as an organization have progressed from our early days.  As an early participant myself, I remember the old test and lecture formats of ten years ago.  Today, our math classes have stayed true to our roots of dedication but have incorporated modern teaching techniques, from small group discussions to Jeopardy competitions.

Our three programs prepare a wide range of students for a future foundation in mathematics: from the 4th grade elementary school student just discovering mathematics to the high school teenager exploring the intricacies of competitive mathematics at national competitions like the Harvard-MIT Math Tournament.

It’s not too late to sign up for the next class–we hope that you can join us for a year of exploration and growth in our efforts to develop a strong foundation in mathematics to enable future endeavours.  For more questions, please email This email address is being protected from spambots.
