First AMC 8 Practice + First OCMC Student Council Meeting

 - Alex Zivkovic, University High School, Class of 2013

On Sunday, September 19, 2010  the Orange County Math Circle hosted the first of three AMC 8 practice meetings. Each meeting consists of a mock exam, a lecture on a specific topic, and then a review of the test questions. This meeting focused on number theory, while future meetings will have lectures on counting techniques and probability.

The lectures will be created by Johnny Li, with the assistance of other skilled OCMC volunteers. This program is available to any student in the 6th through 8th grades, free of charge. To register for future meetings, please RSVP to the event on our website as space is limited. For future events, visit the Calendar.

In the adjacent room, our first OCMC Student Council meeting took place. New volunteers were introduced to the different roles our volunteers play in the management of this organization, while old volunteers were told about our new plans for this year.

If you are interested in participating in the student council, please visit the Leadership portion of our website for more information about how you can get involved. Younger students can serve as school ambassadors, which is a vitally important role for the future of our competitions.
