OCMC Holds the First Open House

Potential and veteran volunteers, board members, and parents shuffled in and out of Avid Academy in the UCI towers on June 9th for available opportunities. The date marked the first open house for the Orange County Math Circle, in which students and parents were welcome to come and familiarize themselves with the organization’s objectives, projects, and departments, along with signing up for volunteer opportunities available for each department.

The guests were introduced to OCMC with a presentation by Anne Chen, the 2013-2014 president, and were led to the department tables, where they submitted their contact information to the different sections in OCMC that they were interested in, including tournaments, problem making, OC Scholar, Santa Ana Math Club, and Webmaster. More than 50 students and volunteers attended the open house.

Along with looking ahead into the 2013-2014 school year, the open house tied up loose ends from the past school year. Members said good-bye to the departing seniors, Alex Zivkovic and Elisa Young, as the open house came to a close.
