Orange County Math Circle Open House Promotion

After a great 2013-14 season, OCMC is looking forward to growing and offering even more opportunities to students in Orange County! We are a non-profit organization that needs volunteers like you to ensure the success of the 2014-15 season. We cordially invite you to come to our Open House on June 8th from 1-4 PM. You can come and go any time during these hours. OC Math Circle, OC Scholar, and OC Coder will all be recruiting new volunteers at the event. We welcome all students in grades 7 through 12. No prior experience is required! We offer a variety of ways to volunteer, ranging from teaching at math clubs and helping at tournaments to writing articles and exploring computer programming. At Open House, representatives from each organization will be available to answer any questions. If you are new to these organizations, general presentations will be made every 30 minutes between 1 and 3 PM. All three organizations would love to have your help, and we hope to see you at Open House!

The success of Orange County Math Circle’s classes and events are a direct result of the great volunteers that have helped the organization over the past few years. Each year, we welcome back old volunteers and also integrate a large group of new students, and we would love to have you on our team. Don’t worry if you have little or no prior experience with OCMC - we have training sessions that will prepare you for your jobs and also help you gain skills for future experiences. You can take part in a wide variety of volunteering opportunities with OCMC, from teaching classes at our math clubs to helping our marketing and tournament planning teams. We are sure you will bring valuable skills to OCMC, and we hope to see you at Open House!

OC Coder
Expanding volunteer opportunities to programmers, OC Coder gives students the opportunity to improve and share their coding abilities. We encourage students with some experience in computer science to join OC Coder to teach others with an interest in programming and aid in our web development team. We also host coding lessons where volunteers will learn how to program apps and apply their knowledge to create service-learning applications. We hope to see you at Open House!

OC Scholar
Founded with the intention of spreading awareness of the achievements and successes of local students, OC Scholar is a student-run online newspaper that offers students the opportunity to sharpen their journalism skills and meet outstanding students across Orange County. We welcome all middle and high school students to volunteer by writing articles. In addition, we encourage you to apply for OC Scholar staff positions, which include subject editors and Webmaster. We hope to see you at Open House!
